Money matters at every career stage of course, but Early Stage Alec is now an Instructor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, and the muscle research community he joined is growing and galvanizing, buoyed in just the last twelve months by two major grants. One grant gave rise to the Center for Translational Muscle Research at UW Medicine, which began operating in the spring of 2019. The other grant, from the National Institute of General Medical Science (NIGMS), is funding a partnership between the University of Washington, Stanford University, the University of California Santa Barbara, and the Curie Institute in Paris.
